From the moment you land at Entebbe’s modern and efficient international airport, with its breathtaking equatorial location on the forested shore of island-strewn Lake Victoria, it is clear that Uganda is no ordinary safari destination.
Uganda has been referred to as ‘the pearl of Africa’ and in fact this is true as this landlocked country in East Africa has so much to offer all visitors. There are now more than 10 national parks and sanctuaries in the country and to date it has been recorded that there are more than 1000 bird species.
To add to the abundance of wildlife, birds and incredibly lush forests and brilliant green scenery, Uganda is also home to more than half of the Mountain Gorillas that survive in the wild that live in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The Park has been proclaimed a World Heritage Site and Uganda fiercely protects their rare and endangered Mountain Gorillas.
Whatever visitors to Uganda want, they will find it; from the elegant urban hotels in the capital city, Kampala, to the rural charm of basic safari lodges, tropical forests, abundant wildlife and unspoilt beauty.
