The annual Sardine Run along South Africa’s South and East coast is an amazing natural phenomenon that transforms the coastal waters into a diver’s paradise. Whether you take the plunge and dive in or watch from the boat, this natural event is an awe inspiring spectacle that draws scores of locals and foreign visitors each year. Billions of sardines swim up the coast, (hence the name sardine run) firming the largest and most impressive shoal on earth. Hot on their heels are whales, sharks, dolphins, orcas, gannets and many more, all joining in on the world’s greatest bait ball and feeding frenzy.
