What’s the deal?

Scuba diving is done most days of the week, EXCEPT on Mondays when we are closed; dive masters need to rest just like everyone else.We offer boat dives several days per week as well as shore entries that can be done daily.

Where is it?

We have the option to dive on the Atlantic side and in False Bay; it all depends on what the weather is doing.

We launch from Houtbay when we dive the Atlantic side and from Miller’s Point when we dive Falsebay.

What to bring:

• Your complete scuba gear as you will not be allowed to dive if you are inadequately equipped. If you do not have full scuba gear you can rent full scuba gear from us at a daily rate or only those items that you need.
• An MPA Permit. Each diver must have an individual MPA permit that is freely available at local post offices at a cost of R75.00 and is valid for a year.

Included:

The services of a fully qualified and experienced Dive Master as your dive guide on all guided dives.

Excluded:

• The price of the various dives do not include scuba gear, but you can rent equipment from us and will be quoted separately on that
• Hotel transfers to and from the dive sites. If you need transportation we will arrange it and quote you on that.

When is the best time to do it?

Throughout the year as long as the weather looks on us kindly

Our normal diving schedule is as follows, but as scuba diving is weather dependent, can be changed on short notice.

MORE ABOUT THE DIFFERENT DIVE SITES:

Wrecks

The Cape has not been named the Cape of Storms without reason and the ocean rond the Cape Peninsula is littered with shipwrecks. On the Atlantic side there are the well-known wrecks on offer such as the Astor, the Katz Maru and the Maori. On the False Bay side we regularly dive the wrecks of the Pietermaritzburg, the Smitswinkel Bay wrecks and the Clan Stuart.

Kelp Forest and Reef dives

On the False Bay side we have the kelp forest dive site called Pyramid at Windmill Beach and we dive reefs such as Caravan, Rambler Rock and more.

Sharks such as the Seven Gill

Notorynchus Cepedianus, or commonly known as the Spotted Seven Gill Cowshark or Broad Nose Seven Gill Shark gives divers great observation opportunities at Pyramid Rock in False Bay. This dive site is a shallow one where we usually set up a shot line on the sandy bottom and divers can settle down and the curious sharks will come and investigate. The less movement the diver makes, the closer the shark will come. It is not unusual to have anything from 6 to 20 individual sharks of between 1 and 3 meters in length come and have a look at the divers.

Seal dive sites

On the False Bay side the best Cape Fur Seal encounters is at Partridge Point. The seal dive sites are usually shallow dives so we can launch later in the day, for instance 11.30 or 14.00.

On the Atlantic side we go seal diving at Seal Island.
