River Lodge
The public facilities of the River Lodge offer the discerning guest a safari lounge as well as a private lounge with bar and fireplace, 2 heated swimming pools, a River Island Deck and other viewing decks as well as a bird hide, a curio shop, an indoor and an open air Boma or dinning area and the Lalamuka Heath Spa and Gymnasium. The Lodge comprises of 18 bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms with bath, basin and indoor and outdoor shower facilities and a private viewing deck.

Ivory Lodge
Public facilities at Ivory Lodge offer the discerning guest a library lounge, wooden viewing decks, a wine cellar, a private bar with a fireplace a River Island Deck, a curio shop, a indoor and open air Boma or dining area and the Lalamuka Health Spa and Gymnasium. The Lodge is made up of 6 villas, each privately situated. Each villa has a separate living room, open plan en-suit bathroom, a heated swimming pool and an enclosure for a luxurious outdoor shower. Each villa is tastefully furnished in an ebony and ivory color scheme where modern meets old word in the decor.

A typical Day at Lion Sands is as follows:
- 05.30 Early daybreak game drive

A Unique Overnight Tree House Experience

You can only experience this once in a lifetime treat at Lion Sands. The Tree Houses are secure and completely private, situated 15 minutes from the Lodge. Each bush bedroom offers you accommodation for up to 2 guests. The rooms are kitted out with mattresses, linen, mosquito netting, a bedside table and a vanity table. Guests can either set out for the Tree Houses at dusk or after dinner. If setting out at dusk a delicious picnic dinner will be provided. You can either radio the Lodge for a pickup at daybreak or wait till the prearranged pickup time.
Chalkley Treehouse
Watch the sun set over the African plains and greet the stars as your canopy for the evening in the Tree House constructed around a Leadwood tree that will whisper it�s 500 year old secrets to you as you sleep.
Tree House stays are limited to a maximum of 2 people and a Surcharge above your accommodation fees is charged for this experience.

Lion Sands is situated adjacent to the Kruger national Park, on the banks of the Sabi Sands river. The Lion Sands Private Game Reserve is situated inside the greater Sabi Sands Game Reserve in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.

When is the best time to do it?
Safaris are an all year round activity, but for game spotting the winter months of April to October offer the best experiences as game is more active and more easily spotted.
What do we need to bring for Game Safaris?
- Clothing suitable for a safari experience and the season in South Africa
- Sunglasses to protect your eyes from glare and a cap or hat to do the same for your face, A high SPF sunscreen and hat
- Binoculars for spotting game and a camera to capture all your safari memories
- A torch and mosquito repellant
What else do I need to know?
- It is advisable to consult your doctor even though Lion Sands falls in a low risk malaria region.
- Chauffeured transfers as well as air transfers from regional airports.
Children Policy: Lion Sands is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years.
