Africa has fascinated visitors for centuries due to its huge variety in scenery, the prolific and varied wildlife and the diversity in cultures, food and customs. This 21-day overland adventure tour has been created to give you the chance to experience six different African countries. We visit� Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zanzibar.
We travel overland in a specially designed adventure truck and explore the countries as we travel and overnight at different camping destinations, lodges and bungalows as we travel. We pack as much excitement, fun and sightseeing into our three weeks overland adventure tour as is humanly possible, leaving you with lifelong memories of your extraordinary journey.
Countries Visited
Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Zambia, as well as the island of Zanzibar.

We depart at 8:00am from the Savanna Lodge, which is located at 68 Courtney Selous Crescent, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
End Point
Our overland adventure tour officially ends with our arrival at The Meridian Court Hotel, located at Muranga Road, Nairobi, Kenya

Health
It is vitally important to inform us of any:
- Pre-existing conditions such as asthma or diabetes.
- All prescription medication you are taking.
- Any food allergies.
- Physical disabilities.
Malaria
It is of the utmost importance that you ensure that you carry the appropriate Malaria prophylactics thought your overland trip as it is required throughout the route.
Visas
It is your own responsibility to get the appropriate visas and people from most nationalities requires visas to enter East African countries. It is possible to obtain visas at the borders, but it is incredibly time consuming and can cause regrettable delays. It is suggested that you deal with all your visa requirements before you start this overland adventure tour. Take note that visas for Malawi are NOT obtainable at the borders.
Climate
Africa has a hot climate and the sun is harsh. You should always wear a hat and have sunscreen with a 30 factor or above. During the winter months is can become cold, so appropriate clothing should be brought.
Currency and Banking
United States Dollars (USD) is the best currency to use in East Africa. Using travellers cheques can be time consuming if you need to change them into cash and very often you will incur exorbitant charges. Many places cannot process credit cards, especially in the more remote areas. USD notes printed before 2002 will not be accepted and many places will not accept USD 100 notes. It is imperative to make sure you bring small denomination notes, $1, $5 and $10 for use at markets and for tips.
Local Payment - USD
Local payment is payable on departure to the guide in cash. Please note that only notes printed after 2002 will be accepted in $50, $20, $10 and $5. This local payment will cover the games drive in South Luangwa, textile tour and village tour. It also covers the 2-night Zanzibar excursion and includes the ferry and accommodation.
Vaccinations
You need a Yellow Fever Certificate for this tour, so contact your GP to discuss the matter or speak to your nearest vaccination centre.
Onward Travel
This overland adventure tour allows flexibility in that you can extend it by also doing the Cape to Victoria Falls tour before you do this one, or the Desert and Delta tour or the Okavango Expedition. You can also add the Masai Mara and Gorilla tour to run at completion of this tour.
Pre and Post Tour Accommodation
We can arrange airport transfers for you as well as any accommodation before or after this tour.
Arrival
It is best to time your arrival 2 or 3 days before the actual start of this overland tour to allow you enough time to participate in any of the variety of optional activities that are available in Victoria Falls.
Departure
It is advisable that you book your departure for the day after this overland tour officially ends. This will give you enough time to make your flight in the event of any unforeseen delays we may experience, especially due to road conditions and weather conditions.

Itinerary
Day 1 Lusaka
We leave Victoria Falls to begin our overland adventure tour and from Livingstone we set out for Lusaka. We will travel approximately 520 km today.
Accommodation is at the Pioneers Camp. Facilities include swimming pool, hot showers and a bar. The water is not drinkable. Meals included are lunch and dinner.
Day 2 Chipata
Today we have a long drive of approximately 750 km; the going will be slow as the roads are not good. We follow the route from Lusaka to Chipata.
Accommodation is at the Mama Rulas Camp and facilities include shared ablutions with hot showers. There is also a swimming pool and take note that the water is not drinkable. Meals included are breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 3/4 South Luangwa National Park
We have an early morning start from Chipata and our destination is South Luangwa National Park. The distance is about 180 km, but bad road conditions means we travel between 6 and 8 hours. Our campsite, where we will stay for two nights is Wildfire Camp situated on the banks of the Luangwa River.
The facilities at the camp include shared ablution with hot shower, a swimming pool and a bar. Water is not drinkable at the camp. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.
The Park is known for its prolific wildlife and included activities will be a sunset game drive and a visit to the village and the tribal textile works. There are also optional game walks and morning game drives.
Day 5/6 Malawi - Luwawa Forest
Today we drive into the highlands of Malawi and we will spend two nights at the Luwawa Forest Camp. Our trip today is about 440 km over rough roads. Facilities at the camp include a restaurant and bar, shared ablution, and remember the water is not drinkable. Meals included are breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Optional activities at Luwawa Camp are fishing, sailing, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking and abseiling.
Day 7/8/9/10 Central Lake Malawi
Today we tackle the stretch from Luwawa and our destination is the beautiful Lake Malawi. The route we take to the lake is stunning and the roughly 380 km will go by fast.
We are going to spend four days relaxing and enjoying ourselves at Lake Malawi. Kande Beach offers white sands and many water sports and other leisure activities. While at the lake we will go on a tour to one of the nearby villages where one of the residents will guide us. There are optional activities such as hiking, horse riding, craft shopping, water sports and much more.
Our accommodation for the first two nights is Kande Beach Camp and facilities include shared ablution, a bar and a craft market. The water is not drinkable. Meals are included; breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Our accommodation for the other two nights is at Camp Chitimba and breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. The facilities at Camp Chitimba include shared ablution, a restaurant, beach and bar. The drive from Kande Beach to reach Camp Chitimba is about 340km.
Day 11/12 Tanzania � Iringa and Dar es Salaam
We leave Malawi and continue our overland adventure tour into Tanzania. Our route goes through the Great Rift Valley and we pass huge tea plantations until we reach our destination, Kisolnza Farm outside Iringa. The next day we will continue our journey on to Dar es Salaam.
Day 11
Today we will travel about 640km to reach Kisolanza Farm where we will overnight. All meals are included. The accommodation has shared ablution facilities with hot showers, a bar and restaurant. The water is not drinkable.
Day 12
We continue our journey from Iringa to reach Dar es Salaam and our trip is about 630 km and will take us roughly 10 to 12 hours. Our overnight accommodation is at Camp Kipepeo that has shared ablution facilities with hot showers and a bar. The water is not drinkable. All meals are included.
Day 13/14/15 Zanzibar
We will leave our adventure truck in Dar es Salaam for a few days while we take the ferry across to Stone Town in Zanzibar. We will explore the ancient city, visit the markets and have fun. The next day we will transfer to the northern region of the island for two days of complete relaxation on the beach.
There are a huge variety of optional activities available that include snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins and scuba diving to name but a few.
You do not have to take all your luggage to Zanzibar and the bulk can be safely locked inside our adventure truck in Dar es Salaam. You only need to take a day pack and on arrival in Zanzibar you will be met by a local tour operator that will assist you will arrangements you wish to make.
Day 13
Accommodation at the Shangani Hotel with two people sharing per room. Meals included: Breakfast. Hotel facilities include ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, laundry services and a coffee shop.
Day 14/15
Transfer to the Amaan Bungalows for two overnight stays with breakfast included (2 persons per room sharing). Facilities at the hotel include ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, a coffee shop and a bar plus a laundry service.
Take Note
The main religion in Zanzibar is Islam and when in Stone Town dress code should be observed. This counts for religious festivals and cultural observances as well. When at resorts on at the beaches, the normal dress code and behaviour that is acceptable around the world is observed.
Day 16 Dar es Salaam
We return to Dar es Salaam by late ferry and pick up our truck and then return to Camp Kipepeo where we will overnight. Meals included are breakfast and dinner.
Day 17/18/19 Arusha and Serengeti / Ngorongoro
Our destination is Arusha where some will go on into the Serengeti for a 3-day excursion. For those not going on to the park there is the opportunity to soak up local culture and explore.� Optional activity: Serengeti/Ngorongoro excursion.
Day 17
we spend a very long day on the road, about 10 hours and 700 km to reach our destination. Our overnight accommodation is the Meserani Oasis Camp or Snake Park. Facilities include shared ablution and a bar. The water is not drinkable. All meals are included.
Day 20 Arusha
Those that went on the optional Serengeti/Ngorongoro excursion return and we once again overnight at the Meserani Oasis Camp or Snake Park.
21 Kenya � Nairobi
This is the final day of the overland adventure tour and we head to Nairobi, which is the official end-stop. Meals included for this day is breakfast and lunch. Our final stretch of travelling is bout 310 km and will take about 7 hours. Our end-stop destination is the Meridian Court Hotel and it is suggested that tour members book accommodation here. If you wish to have different accommodation, you will have to make your own transfer arrangements as the adventure truck cannot go around Nairobi letting individuals off at separate stops.
Optional activity is having dinner out.
Optional 3-day Serengeti NP/Ngorongoro Crater tour:
Day 1
Depart for Serengeti National Park and have a game drive en route. Overnight accommodation is at Camp Seronera with all meals included. The facilities are shared ablution with cold showers. The water is not drinkable.
Day 2
Morning game drive and then mid afternoon drive to Ngorongoro via the Olduvai Gorge for an optional talk on prehistoric artefacts found in this area. Overnight accommodation is at Camp Simba with all meals included. The facilities are shared ablutions with cold showers. The water is not drinkable.
Day 3
After breakfast, descend down the Crater floor with lunch box for half-day game drive, and then drive back to Arusha to rejoin the rest of the overland adventure tour group. (Day 20 of the tour)
