This safari is ideal for individuals, couples, families and special interest groups who would like a short focused tour to the sand dune area. For those on a budget we also offer this safari on a camping basis in comfortable, easy to erect dome tents with stretcher beds, mattresses and linen. You will enjoy your dinners cooked over the campfire by your camp assistant whilst savouring the sounds and smells of the desert. Departures are every Friday at 12noon with a minimum of 2 people.

In addition to the Sossusvlei Express, Chameleon also runs an accommodated tour to Etosha. The 3 Day Etosha Express departs every Tuesday. Including a full day game driving inside the national park as well as another morning game drive on the last day, you will have plenty of time to spot as many animals as possible. Accommodation again is in permanent adobe style tents or rooms with en-suite bathroom just outside the park gate.

The 6 Day Dunes & Wildlife is the perfect combination if you are limited on time and would like to see it all. This combination of wildlife and desert is the perfect balance to give you a well rounded Namibian experience. The 6 Day Dunes & Wildlife safari departs every Tuesday at 12noon with a minimum of 2 people.

3 Day SOSSUSVLEI EXPRESS
DAY 1           LODGE, NEAR SESRIEM
Departure is from Chameleon Guesthouse and Backpackers at 12noon. Driving via Rehoboth and Naukluft we arrive at our camp late afternoon and have a chance to relax and enjoy the views before taking a short walk for sunset looking over the Naukluft mountain range.   Overnight is based in twin rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathroom facilities.   Dinner prepared by your guide (D)

DAY 2           LODGE, NEAR SESRIEM
We depart at dawn from camp to arrive at the park gate for sunrise.  We drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes to the 2x4 parking (around 55kms) and take a 4x4 shuttle into the Sossusvlei area to appreciate the beauty of this place in early morning light and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the region.  We explore this unique area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours.   We can either walk or take the 4x4 shuttle back to our vehicle.  As we drive back to our accommodation we will stop at the famous Dune 45 and climb this dune if we wish or just wander around the base.  We return to Sesriem and visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon, one of the few permanent water sources before arriving back at our lodge late afternoon to watch the sunset over this spectacular desert.  Overnight in twin share rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathrooms. DAY 3           WINDHOEK
After a leisurely breakfast we return to Windhoek via Bullsport and Rehoboth.  We arrive prior to lunchtime where you will be dropped at your accommodation. (B)

3 Day ETOSHA EXPRESS
Day 1  LODGE, OUTSIDE ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We depart from Chameleon Backpackers Lodge, Windhoek 12noon. We stop briefly at Otjiwarongo then arrive at our lodge just before sunset outside the gates of Etosha National Park. Twin share rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathroom facilities. Dinner is prepared by your guide and an early night is recommended.  (D)

Day 2 LODGE, OUTSIDE ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We depart from our lodge at sunrise to be the first at the gate to the park and game drive ‘til mid morning when we will stop for a light breakfast.  We visit many waterholes and drive half way across the park in our quest to find the big 4 as well as all the plains game arriving at Halali for a rest during the hottest part of the day. Here your guide will prepare you a delicious lunch whilst you have a dip in the pool or relax by the camp waterhole.  Continuing after lunch you will visit the mighty Etosha Pan and have the experience of walking on the pan to feel the immenseness of this 4500 sq km saltpan (seasonal).  We will then continue back to Okaukuejo calling into some well-known waterholes and leave the park prior to sunset.  Twin share rooms or permanent tents with en-suite bathroom facilities.  Dinner is prepared by your guide and another early night is recommended. Day 3 WINDHOEK
Early morning game drive (+ 3 hours) inside the park looking for predators as well as plains game and the many bird species found inside this incredible world-renowned park.  Your guide will give you a light lunch en-route to Windhoek via the craft markets at Okahandja.  Arrive in Windhoek late afternoon for your onward travel arrangements or to join the Sossusvlei Express, which departs at midday tomorrow.  You will be dropped at your accommodation or airport transfers can be arranged by the office with advance notice.
