What’s the deal?

Enjoy 3 days on an assisted camping adventure holiday in Namibia’s Etosha National Park. Prices are inclusive of almost everything you will need on this holiday, leaving you little to do but enjoy yourself as you explore Namibia’s natural beauty.

Where is it?

Etosha National Park, Namibia

What to bring:

• Insect repellent
• Sun protection: Sunscreen, sunhat, sunglasses
• Sturdy, comfortable clothing suitable to the season
• Sturdy, comfortable hiking boots
• Camera/video camera
• Spending money in local currency (preferably small bills)
• 2 litre water bottle
• Torch
• Towel

Please Note: most of your camping equipment for this adventure holiday can be hired by prior arrangement; you do not need to bring your own or purchase any if you don’t have your own equipment.

Additional Namibian adventure holiday information:

Comprehensive personal travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Camping:

• The tents are dome type and easy to assemble.
• The mattresses are approximately 5 cm thick.
• Everyone is provided with a camp chair with a backrest
• A sleeping bag range of “3 – 4 season” is recommended (can be hired)

Meals:

• All evening meals (unless stipulated) are cooked on an open fire by your safari guide.
• Salads and fresh vegetables are served where possible. Please Note in some areas this is not necessarily every day.
• Fresh fruit is supplied when possible.
• We can cater for vegetarians by prior arrangement

Restrictions:

• You are limited to the following on this camping safari adventure holiday per person:
• 1 soft, barrel type bag (maximum weight of 15kg)
• 1 medium sized hand luggage bag
• 1 medium sized camera bag
• A sleeping bag
• Tours depart for a minimum of 2 and a max of 14 participants

Malaria:

Namibia presents a low malarial risk but it is recommended that you seek professional medical advice in order to make an informed decision about preventative measures.

Drinking Water:

All Namibian tap water has been purified or comes directly from boreholes. All tap water is safe to drink.  We supply our clients with tap drinking water; bottled mineral water is readily available at shops.

Electricity:

• Namibian electrical plugs are 220 V and are 3 pin (round pin, not square pin).
• Adaptors may be bought in Windhoek.
• Some campsites offer the change to recharge batteries.

Currency:

• The Namibian Dollar (N$) is permanently equal to the ZAR ( N$1 – R1)
• South African Rand is legal tender in Namibia.

Itinerary:

Scheduled adventure holiday departures are guaranteed every Saturday of the year, providing that there is a minimum of 2 participants.

Saturday: Windhoek – Okaukuejo camp, Etosha National Park (450 km) (LD) (camping)

You will be collected between 08:00 & 08:30

A long drive this morning, we will travel north passing through farmland and stopping at small towns along the way, we aim to arrive at the main camp in Etosha, Okaukuejo, Etosha in the middle afternoon. 

After entering Etosha we game drive our way through to the Okaukuejo camp where we will check in and make camp.

After your evening meal there are still more chances to see Etosha's big game at Okaukuejo’s floodlit waterhole, situated on the boundary of our camp and easily reachable on foot

Okaukuejo is famous for its waterhole, which has been described as one of the "best game viewing opportunities in Southern Africa".  Situated on the doorstep of our camp, black rhino, elephant, lion and numerous species of antelope are usually seen.

Sunday: Okaukuejo – East Etosha, Namutoni region (BLD) (camping)

A full day's game driving today and we leave early to enjoy the cool morning air as we game drive our way through Etosha to Halali camp, situated in the middle of the park. 

Along the way we visit several waterholes and are afforded splendid views of the massive Etosha Pan.  The game viewing is usually excellent and we have the chance to tick off a few new species that are not normally seen on the Okaukuejo side of the park. 

We stop at Halali camp for a rest and a leisurely lunch and there is time to visit the Halali waterhole and to make use of the swimming pool and bar facilities before continuing to the eastern side of the park and our camp in the Namutoni region.

Monday: East Etosha – Windhoek (500km) (BL)

A long transit back to Windhoek, we are travelling on the main road, passing through towns and rural areas and we will make time to make a stop in the small town of Okahandja, the home of Namibia’s largest wood carving market.  The stalls operated on a local co-operative basis and are one of the best places to shop for truly Namibian souvenirs. 

We are due back into the city around 16:00 and you will be dropped off at your accommodation on our return.
