This overland adventure tour takes you from Nairobi, Kenya and you travel overland all the way down the southern African continent to end your tour 42 days later in Cape Town, South Africa.
This overland adventure is all about experiencing different cultures, wildlife, discovering local cuisines and getting to know all those places you have only read about until now. Along the way you will try to find the African Big 5 game, snorkel off the reefs of Zanzibar, experience the highest sand dunes in the world and visit one of the seven wonders of the word; Victoria Falls.
What is the deal?
Travel overland from Nairobi to Cape Town in 42 days, of which you will be camping for 38 nights. Along the way we visit all the best sights and have the best experiences Africa has to offer.

Itinerary - Nairobi to Cape Town Overland Adventure Tour
Day 1: Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania
We start out from Nairobi and our destination is Tanzania and the Meserani Reptile Park where we will stay for a few days.
Days 2 - 4: Arusha to Serengeti NP & Ngorongoro Crater
You have the choice of spending two leisurely days at the Meserani Reptile Park and visitong the Masai Cultural Museum and the town of Arusha. You can also choose to go on the optional excursion to the Ngorongoro Crater (a world heritage site) and the Serengeti National Park.
Day 5: Arusha to Pangani
See the sights in Arusha and then head south to Dar es Salaam and our campsite at Pagani.
Day 6: Pangani to Dar Es Salaam
Arrive at Pangani campsite overlooking the Indian Ocean and relax and prepare for the optional excursion to Zanzibar Island.
Day 7: Dar Es Salaam to Zanzibar Island
Three nights in fabulous Zanzibar and explore and experience the Spice Island. The trip leader travels with the adventure group to give assistance.
Day 8 & 9: Zanzibar Island
Spend the days and nights in whatever activities and excursions you wish.
Day 10: Zanzibar Island to Dar Es Salaam
Return to Dar es Salaam from Zanzibar and get ready to continue our overland trip across Tanzania and on towards Malawi.
Day 11: Dar Es Salaam to Iringa
Today our destination is a campsite just outside Iringa town and a campsite known all round for its great hot showers and Amarula flavoured hot chocolate. We pass through Mikumi National Park and it is always a great opportunity to do some game spotting.
Day 12 - 16: Iringa to Lake Malawi, Malawi
Five days of exploring Lake Malawi and experiencing everything this area has to over. Lake Malawi covers one fifth of Malawi and our overland adventure takes us the entire length of the west coast. We meet the local people and pack in as many cultural activities as we can.
Day 17: Lake Malawi to Chipata, Zambia
We cross into Zambia and make camp about 10 kilometres past the Malawi/Zambia border.
Day 18: Chipata to Lusaka
We camp on the outskirts of Lusaka and enjoy the local wildlife; the Eland, Africa's largest antelope is found in this region.
Day 19: Lusaka to Livingstone
Today our destination is Livingstone; one of the towns closely associated with the world-famous Victoria Falls. A sunset cruise on the Zambezi River is available as an optional outing. This is a good way to get acquainted with the region.
Day 20: Livingstone to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
We cross the Victoria Falls Bridge and enter Zimbabwe at the town of Victoria Falls. This town is a most popular destination and this means that there is an abundance of activities. Rafting, lion walks, gorge swings, bungee jumping, abseiling and flights over the Falls to name but a few.
Day 21 & 22 : Victoria Falls
Two days are set aside for spending time at Victoria Falls making memories, having fun and relaxing. You can go on as many optional activities as you wish, look around the great craft markets and get to know the locals, whatever you wish.
Day 23 : Victoria Falls to Kasane, Botswana
Our overland adventure trip takes us to Kasana in Botswana and the Chobe National Park. There is the optional sleep-out in the Chobe NP to spend the night under the stars.
Day 24 : Chobe National Park
If you didn't go on the sleep-out, today there is an early game drive in the Park until the group comes together in the afternoon for a riverboat cruise on the Chobe River at sunset.
Day 25: Kasane to Maun
Early morning departure for Maun, which will be our base in the Okavango Delta.
Day 26: Maun to Okavango Delta
There is the option of a 3 day/2 night must-do Mokoro excursion into the Delta where we get poled through the water in the traditional dug out canoes and set up a bush camp to explore the huge variety in animal life found here.
Day 27: Okavango Delta
Day of exploration with game walks, some swimming and relaxation and you get the opportunity to chance your hand at poling a Mokoro along the waterways.
Day 28: Okavango Delta to Maun
Before we fall into the road to Maun again there is a final game walk. Early arrival in Maun allows time for the optional activity of a sunset flight over the Delta to experience the spectacular views from high above.
Day 29: Maun to Rundu, Namibia
Today our overland adventure journey takes us into northern Namibia on our way to our riverside campsite at Rundu and we meet the famous resident hippo referred to as the 'local lawnmower'.
Day 30: Rundu to Etosha National Park
The Etosha National Park is simply huge as it covers 22,000 sq.km and we head for the Etosha Pan. The great network of roads in the National Park allows us to spot a large variety of animals on our travels from waterhole to waterhole and have great photo opportunities.
Day 31 : Etosha National Park
Today we go on a 150 km trek westward across the Park for a full day of game viewing.
Day 32 : Etosha National Park to Cheetah Park
A great highlight on our overland adventure tour is the Cheetah Park, a private conservation effort to preserve the dwindling cheetah population. Coming face to face with these extraordinary cats is a opportunity of a lifetime, so keep those cameras ready at all times.
Day 33: Cheetah Park to Spitzkoppe
Our destination today is Spitzkoppe, an ancient San sacred site often called the Matterhorn of Africa to view the many rock paintings and do some exploring.
Day 34 : Spitzkoppe to Swakopmund
Today we do something different as we head into Swakopmund that was settled in 1892 by the Germans. We get to taste the awesome food that is still greatly influenced by the German heritage. Tonight we swap out tents and sleep in beds in a dorm and get ready for some adventure activities.
Day 35 & 36: Swakopmund
We will spend two days in Swakopmund and the choice is yours whether you want to just relax or keep busy. There is huge variety to choose form such as fishing, horse riding, dolphin cruise, a desert flight or go quad biking or sand boarding.
Day 37: Swakopmund to Sesriem
We set off along the Atlantic coast and then inland at Walvis Bay to the sands at Sesriem where we gain access to Sossusvlei that boasts the highest sand dunes in the world. You can climb Dune 45 and watch the sunrise or take part in a guided walk into the dunes with one of the experienced Sossus on Foot Guides and get a look into the world of the San people.
Day 38: Sesriem to Fish River Canyon
Today we head south into the Fish River Canyon; one of the most amazing geological structures in the world.
Day 39: Fish River Canyon to Orange River, South Africa
When we cross the border into South Africa we are on the last leg of our overland adventure tour and we make camp on the banks of the Orange River where there is an optional canoe trip on the river.
Day 40: Orange River to Cederberg
The Cederberg is our destination for today where we make camp amongst the stunning mountains and the far-stretching vineyards. It might be a good idea to do some wine sampling here.
Day 41: Cederberg to Cape Town
From the Cederberg we enter home stretch and head for Cape Town and most of the group will look eagerly forward to that first glimpse of that famous flattop mountain.
Day 42: Cape Town
Officially this is the end of our amazing overland adventure tour that took us from Nairobi to Cape Town with so many experiences that will be memories for a lifetime. After breakfast, everyone parts and heads back to their own lives.
