What’s the deal?

Livingstone Island offers guests the opportunity to enjoy unique picnics, walks and sightseeing. Book your Livingstone Island excursions with Adventure Zone for an unforgettable experience of the Victoria Falls and surroundings. Please note that the island limits visits to a total of 80 guests per day in order to protect and preserve the natural habitat of Livingstone Island.

Where is it?

Livingstone Island is located in the middle of the Zambezi River, at the edge of the mighty Victoria Falls and is only 8 minutes by boat from the Royal Livingstone Hotel on the Zambian side of the Falls.

When to do it?

Adventure Zone offers it’s Livingstone Island adventures throughout the year, weather permitting. Please note that Livingstone Island operates even in rainy weather and excursions will only be cancelled in case of severe weather.

Included:

• Return transfers by boat to Livingstone Island from the Royal Livingstone Hotel jetty
• Guided island tour during which explanations of indigenous flora and fauna and the geology and history of Victoria Falls are provided.
• Guests may swim  at the edge of the falls in a picturesque rock pool when waters are low, between August and December.
• Included in Morning Breezers: Traditional Maheu welcome drink, coffee and tea, bacon or egg rolls, biscuits
• Included in the lunch: Traditional Maheu welcome drink, coffee and tea, drinks such as red and white wine beer, Pimms, Gin, soft drinks, a 3-course lunch meal
• Included in Afternoon Tea: Traditional Maheu welcome drink, tea and coffee, drinks, sandwich selection, Zambian nuts, cakes

Excluded:

• Visas which may be required for guests to enter Zambia and to re-enter Zimbabwe
• USD20 entrance day visit fee applicable to certain passport holders requiring visas to enter Zambia. (Not applicable for guests staying the night)
• Return transfer by road to the Zambian border from any hotel in Victoria Falls town.
• Driver accompanying guests to the Royal Livingstone hotel jetty from the border and back again

What to bring or wear:

• Sun screen with a high SPF factor
• Binoculars
• Camera/video camera
• Personal medication
• Insect repellent      
• Swimwear between August and December
• Comfortable flat shoes
• Rafting shoes or trainers/sneakers
• it is recommended that guests bring along warm clothes in winter, June to August
• Seasonal muddiness from December to August – pack appropriately

Activities:

• Island tour
• Walking safaris during low season
• Transfers and Transfer Vehicles:
• Pickup of clients takes place from all hotels in the Victoria Falls region of Zimbabwe
• Transfers take place from Zimbabwean hotels to the Zambian border post
• Clients are accompanied on a short walk to the Royal Livingstone Hotel’s sun deck (roughly 1km)
• Activity pickup point is the Royal Livingstone Hotel’s sun deck
• Vehicular transfers can be arranged for guests not wishing to walk
• Pick Ups:
• Pick ups from Zimbabwean Victoria Falls hotels take place 60 minutes prior to the start of an activity
• Pick ups from the Zambian border post for transfers to Royal Livingstone hotel take place a minimum of 20 minutes prior to the start of an activity and are charged at an additional cost
