What’s the deal?
Spend 1.5 hours of your life experiencing Africa from a
brand new perspective as you are accompanied on a safari walk by the majestic
king of the African bushveld, lions. Accompanied by an armed guide and
experienced lion handlers you will enjoy a walk on a truly wild side, an
unforgettable and life-changing journey in the presence of these magnificent
big cats.
Where is it?
Your Zimbabwean lion encounter safari will take place on the
Masuwe Estate which is only 15 minutes out of the Victoria Falls town.
When is the best time
to do it?
The lion encounter adventures are on offer throughout the
year, weather permitting.
Minimums and
maximums:
With a total of 4 trips a day the lion encounter safaris can
accommodate a total of up to 40 guests per day, 20 in the morning and 20 in the
afternoon or 10 clients per trip.
The minimum number of guests on any lion encounter adventure
is 1.
About the lion
encounters:
- Guests are picked up from their Victoria Falls
accommodation.
- Coffee, tea and cordials are served on arrival.
- Short introductory and safety briefing.
The lion encounter safari begins with meeting the lions and
their handlers. The lion is known as the king of the jungle and indeed they are
the royalty of the African wild. You
will have the lifechanging opportunity to walk with the lions and their
handlers through pristine bushveld and the Masuwe River valley. Along the way
birdlife and indigenous African wildlife are plentiful. Sightings may include
kudu, elephant, impala and sometimes even leopard and other lions. More than 50
species of bird can be sighted on the lion encounter safari.
Your safety is the number 1 priority and thus all lions are
under the charge of a separate handler and all trips are guided by an
experienced guide. The guide is armed and carried both a handheld radio and
first aid kit.
The morning lion encounter safari concludes with a delicious
breakfast.
The mid-morning and afternoon safaris end with a selection
of sumptuous snacks and drinks.
Restrictions:
- Age Limit: 15 years and children under 18 need
to be accompanied by a guardian.
- Height Limit: 1.5 metres.
- Clients with physical disabilities will be
considered individually and assessed according to safety.
- Any health issues or illnesses should be
reported when booking a lion encounter.
What should you bring
/ wear?
You will be responsible for carrying all of your own
personal items during the safari walk so it is advisable that you pack light.
Refreshments and bottled water will be available so you
needn’t bring your own.
Please bring:
- High SPF sunscreen
- Sunhat or cap
- Sunglasses
- Camera
- Any necessary personal medication
- Insect repellant
You are advised to wear neutral coloured clothing as bright
colours and whites will scare off wildlife.
Please wear:
- Closed, comfortable shoes suitable for walking
- Long trousers
- Sweaters in colder months
- Sandals you can get your feet wet in
