Malaria and predator free, the reserve is a natural playground for those who want to reconnect with themselves and the essence of life, with wide open plains, mystical rock formations, crystal clear water falls, and an abundance of flora and fauna. The spa is a sanctuary to wellness, well-being and holistic healing, where one’s spirit, mind and body can truly let go, and soothing pampering and restorative treatments are complemented with unique products made from indigenous rooibos, flowers and plants. The warm, caring service and hospitality, delicious organic cuisine, breathtaking dining venues, superb facilities and accommodation have repeatedly won Bushmans Kloof international recognition and awards. Exclusive and totally private, with 16 rooms and suites, this Natural Heritage Site is also home to many exceptional San rock art sites. Guests can discover the wonders of nature, choose from a vast range of outdoor activities, or do absolutely nothing but inhale the beauty and succumb to the peace, quiet and tranquility. A Relais & Châteaux property.

A successful programme of species re-introduction has followed the continued rehabilitation of the natural vegetation. The results are a triumph for conservation, and a delightful awareness for visitors.
Bushmans Kloof has been proclaimed a South African Natural Heritage Site within the Cederberg Wilderness Area, and forms part of the Cape Floral Region, a designated World Heritage Site.
The area is malaria and predator-free.
ACTIVITIES
This unusual wilderness reserve, in an area of extraordinary beauty, offers a variety of interesting pastimes including the opportunity to view some of the finest Bushman rock art in South Africa.
WILDLIFE
Rare Cape Mountain Zebra now roam in the company of other creatures revered in Bushman mythology such as the Eland, the monarch of antelopes. The mask-faced Gemsbok too graze once more outside the sandstone caves containing their images, painted there long ago by the Shaman.
BOTANICAL
Each year in spring, nature celebrates her rebirth here with extravagant flower displays transforming the dramatic sandstone landscapes into a fantasy world of intense colour.
ROCK ART
The reserve is enhanced by over 130 of these rock paintings, which form a priceless open-air art gallery of global relevance.
CONSERVATION
Bushmans Kloof is passionately committed to conserving the land, wildlife and flora that form part of this extraordinary wilderness reserve. Acting as a safe haven to some highly endangered species of indigenous plants and animals.
HISTORY
In the grand tradition of epic stories Bushmans Kloof began its re-birth in 1992 when Bill and Mark McAdam purchased a neglected property and painstakingly created a plan to restore the reserve into a unique wilderness retreat. In 1996 they opened Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat to the public.
