Overview
Fourteen days of travelling aboard a luxury train that provides all guests with 5-star treatment and excellent cuisine. You relax and enjoy the train tour that takes you across borders to experience Africa in all her glory. The train carries a maximum of 72 passengers in 36 en-suite rooms with all amenities.
Itinerary
Day 1
Depart Cape Town Station on the Rovos Rail Edwardian Train Safari. Upon arrival at Matjiesfontein, take a tour of this Victorian village before returning to board and have dinner. Overnight on the train.
Day 2
Arrive in Kimberley after midday and visit the Diamond Museum and the Big Hole and depart late afternoon again. Dinner and overnight on the train.
Day 3
Arrive in Pretoria and after a light lunch take in a tour of the city before a late departure.
Day 4
Arrive in Zeerust where you overnight at the 5-star Tau Game Lodge with full board for two nights.
Day 5
Early morning and evening game drives and guest activities during the day. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 6
Early morning game drive and depart Zeerust in the evening.
Day 7
Cross the border into Zimbabwe and after border formalities continue travelling through Zimbabwe. Morning and afternoon lectures by the historian.
Day 8
Arrive at Victoria Falls and transfer to the Victoria Falls Hotel from the train. Sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Dinner and overnight at the hotel with optional activity of African Spectacular Show.
Day 9
Day of leisure with a tour of the Falls with activities such as golf and the Flight of Angels available. Depart from Victoria Falls late afternoon and proceed to the Zambian border.
Day 10
The rail tour passes through Lusaka and you have breakfast, lunch and dinner on board. Lectures in the morning and afternoon.
Day 11
Arrive in Konana and have a brunch outing at Kundalila Falls and train departs Kanona after midday.
Day 12
Arrival at Nakonde/Tunduma for Zambian/Tanzanian border controls. Passengers have breakfast, lunch and dinner on board the train.
Day 13
Arrive in Makamboka.
Day 14
Arrive at Kiduna after midnight and continue the train journey through Mzenga towards Dar Es Salaam. Breakfast will be had on board before arrival at Tazara Station in Dar Es Salaam.
