This is the ultimate overland adventure tour through Africa and you will camp your way across 9 different countries and experience many cultures that are vastly different to your own.

This is a 56-day camping tour that starts in Cape Town, South Africa and continues all the way up Southern Africa to end in Nairobi, Kenya.

Take Note: The itinerary is flexible and often has to be changed without prior notice to accommodate the best viewing of Gorillas and gorilla permit prices and also subject to change without notice.
Day 1: South Africa, Cederberg Mountain region
The overland adventure tour kicks off in Cape Town with a short stop to see Table Mountain. From there we start north to the region surrounding the Cederberg for a guided walk.
Day 2: Namaqualand � Orange/Gariep River
We journey to the Orang/Gariep River and spend the evening getting to know all adventure tour companions.
Day 3: Namibia, Gariep/Orange River, Fish River Canyon
You have the choice of a half day canoe trip (optional activity) or spending the morning on the river bank. Travel north towards the Fish River Canyon in the afternoon.
Day 4: Namib-Naukluft National Park
Depart the Fish River Canyon and move into the interior and make camp in the afternoon. Short hike into Sesriem Canyon.
Day 5: Sossus Vlei dunes
Early morning hike up Dune 45 so that we can watch the sunrise and later go on a guided tour of the area.
Day 6+ 7: Swakopmund
Crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn on our way to the Atlantic Coast. Two-day stay over in Swakopmund with day 7 being a free day to explore and indulge in any optional activities.
Day 8: Spitzkoppe
We once again resume our nomadic adventure tour and head towards the granite Spitzkoppe hills and camp out for the night.
Day 9: Himba Tribes
After early morning exploration we head inland towards Kamanjab to visit the Himba that lead a unique pastoral life.
Day 10 + 11: Etosha National Park
Game drives in the Etosha National Park and evenings spent at the plentiful waterholes for some excellent photo opportunities
Day 12: Windhoek
After an early morning game drive we set off towards Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. En-route we visit a popular craft market and in the afternoon we take in a city tour. There are optional activities: Dinner out at Joe�s Beer House.
Day 13: Ghanzi, Botswana
We take the scenic route to the Buitenpos border post where we enter into Botswana. At our campsite we will have the chance to see traditional tribal dancing and meet the local Bushman community.
Day 14 + 15 + 16: Maun and the Okavango Delta
We start out from Ghanzi to Maun where we will spend the night and gear up for our two-night bush camping experience to follow. The guides will brief all adventure tour members. We make use of local transport to enter the Delta and if the water levels are low, there is a Mokoro [traditional canoe] trip on the agenda as well as nature walks in the company of local people.
Day 17: Gweta
Travel east to Gweta, about halfway between Nata and Maun, near the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.
Day 18: Chobe National Park
Set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River at Kasana, do game spotting from a boat and go on an early morning game drive the next morning.
Day 19: Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls
Today we reach the world-famous Victoria Falls and spend the day relaxing and visiting the Falls. Optional sunset cruise is available.
Day 20 + 21: Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls is worth a long stop-over and most people get in as much white water rafting as they can. There are many other optional activities available: elephant excursion, bungee jumping, white water rafting, dinner out
Day 22: Zambia, Lusaka
Our next stop is the lively capital city of Zambia; Lusaka and we go exploring.
Day 23: Chipata
We get some shopping in before we leave Lusaka and go northeast towards Chipata to get to know more about the interesting local people.
Day 23 + 24 + 25: South Luangwa National Park
Our journey takes us from Chipata to the border of the South Luangwa National Park for a two-night stop over camping on the riverbank. In these two days we will enjoy guided sunset game drive and visit the local village and find out more about the tribal textile project they run. Optional activities include a guided morning game walk.
Day 26 + 27: Malawi, Luwana Forest
We head across the border into Malawi and head into the highlands and spend the night at Luwawa Forest. Optional activities for the day are hiking, fishing and mountain biking.
Day 28 + 29 + 30 + 31: Lake Malawi
We are now at the halfway mark of our overland adventure tour of Africa. We take a four-day break on the shores of Lake Malawi. This is a top holiday destination and a stunning place to just relax. You are completely free to spend your time as you wish. There are many optional activities such as horse riding, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, scuba diving and parasailing.
Day 32: Tanzania, Iringa
We descend the Great Rift Valley and pass through stunning mountain passes and tea plantations until we reach our campsite outside Iringa.
Day 33: Iringa to Dar Es Salaam
We take the long trip from Siringa that will eventually get us to our destination; the port city of Dar Es Salaam. We go via the Mukumi National Park, but do not stop for sightseeing.
Day 34 + 35 + 36: Zanzibar
We take the ferry to the capital of Zanzibar; Stone City and overnight here and explore the architecture and the markets. The next day we transfer to the northern region of the island and spend two days on the beach to relax. Optional activities are spice tours, dolphin tours, snorkelling, scuba diving and eating out.
Day 37: Zanzibar, Dar Es Salaam
We return to Dar Es Salaam and our campsite either via ferry or by taking a flight.
Day 38: Dar Es Salaam � Arusha
Our overland adventure now takes us on the long and very scenic road to Arusha, Tanzania and on arrival settle in. Those that are going on a trip to the Serengeti National Park start preparations while the rest relax.
Day 39 + 40: Serengeti Ngorongoro
We have a stopover here. Some of the adventure tour members will go on the optional three-day trip to the Serengeti. Those not going on to the National Park will have this time to relax and soap up as much of the local culture as they want.
Day 41: Arusha
a visit to a local Masai village is on the agenda today and some of our camping adventure tour mates will be leaving us tomorrow, so usually this evening is spent reminiscing about the adventures everyone has had up to now.
Day 42: Kenya, Nairobi
We cross the border into Kenya and go on to Nairobi. Here some tour members will say goodbye to the rest. It is usual for the whole tour group to spend the evening at one of the local restaurants. Optional activity: dinner at Carnivore Restaurant.
Day 43: Nairobi to Masai Mara
The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania actually spreads across the border and the Masai Mara National Park is the Kenyan part of the Serengeti National Park. We enter this vast area today for some of the most spectacular game spotting and photo opportunities in Africa. The Masai Mara is home to a huge variety of animals and we will go on an afternoon game drive.
Day 44: Masai Mara to Naivasha
In the morning we have a game drive and a visit to the Masai people and after lunch we start our journey to Lake Naivasha.
Day 45: Navasha to Nakuru National Park
The Naivasha is also called Hell�s Gate National Park and we will spend the morning amongst the red coloured cliffs that game this Park its name of Hell Gate. Hiking is allowed in this Park and we have opportunity for bird and game watching. Optional activity is to go game watching on a bicycle. We set out for Lake Nakura in the afternoon.
Day 46: Lake Nakuru to Eldoret
the morning is spent relaxing at Lake Nakuru before we cross the equator to Eldoret. The crossing of the equator is always an important photo opportunity for all.
Day 47: Eldoret to Kampala, Uganda
Once again we cross a border; this time into Uganda and by now the adventure tour group knows that border formalities take time. By the afternoon we will reach Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. Optional activity for the day: dining out in Kampala.
Day 48: Kampala � Crescent Island excursion
This day is officially set aside for everyone on the adventure camping tour to explore everything that Kampala has to offer. Most people though opt for the optional activity of going on a day trip to visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary of Ngamba Island. This is a great opportunity for everyone to see how the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Trust care for orphaned chimps. Optional activities are the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Kampala markets and dinner out
Day 49 + 50 + 51: Kampala to Gorilla Mountain
Visiting the endangered Gorillas at Gorilla Mountain is a highlight of the entire overland adventure tour. There is now less than 700 gorillas left in the wild and their conservation is critical. This is a wonderful opportunity for the tour group to see these incredible animals in their wild habitat.
Permits are strictly allocated and in the event that permits cannot be obtained, the tour group will be informed beforehand that the tour will travel to the DRC or Rwanda to visit the gorillas there.
Day 52 + 53: Queen Elizabeth National Park
The visit to the Queen Elizabeth National Park gives everyone many opportunities to see animals that are not easily found elsewhere, such as the giant forest hog and the legendary tree-climbing lions that live in the Ishasha Sector. Optional activity is a Kasinga Channel Sunset Cruise.
Day 54 + 55: Jinja
We set off early on the long drive that will bring us to Jinja, Uganda�s second largest city. We will spend the next day in Jinja as well with opportunity to go rafting. You can also spend the day at the Soft Power Education charity and lend a helping hand at this grass-roots level project to help educate the youth of Jinja. Optional activities are white water rafting and the Soft Power Education Project.
Day 56: Nairobi
We start the long drive to Nairobi on this, the last day of our overland adventure tour and where we have to say goodbye to our tour buddies after spending nearly three months together. A favourite optional activity of the tour group is to have a farewell dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi. They do cater for vegetarians, but this is a meat-eater�s paradise.
