Mozambique

Mozambique: " the land of smiles "

Mozambique is located on the southeastern coast of Africa and is bordered by Tanzania to the North, South Africa and Swaziland to the South, Zimbabwe to the West and Zambia and Malawi to the northwest.

They call Mozambique the land of smiles and with good reason. This picturesque country lies on the East Coast of Africa and can, by all rights, be described as a coastal paradise. After turbulent and history and civil wars that lasted over 30 years, the country is recovering and have entered the African Renaissance; very good reason for its people to smile.

Mozambique has some of the best beaches to be found along the African coast and with its tropical weather it is not surprising that more and more people are discovering what an absolute gem it is for anglers, divers and beach lovers.

Seafood features top of the menu of resorts and everything is caught daily, making it a pleasure to come to any of the wonderful and exotic resorts.

Mozambique also offers the eco-tourist and the wildlife enthusiast with abundant opportunities as there are three national parks and the Tembe Elephant Park is the home of not only rhino, leopard, hippo, lion and antelope, but also the largest specimens of the African Elephant in the world. The bird life is also abundant, making for great bird watching opportunities.

Whatever your idea of an adventure holiday is, Mozambique more than adequately caters to it with game watching safaris, beach holidays, sailing and fishing as well as great food at the local restaurants and pubs that is infused with African, Arabian and Portuguese flavours.

The most important rivers are the Zambezi flowing southeast across the centre of Mozambique into the Indian Ocean, the Limpopo in the south, the Save in the middle and the Lugfenda in the north. The most important lake is the navigable Lake Niassa. In the river valleys and deltas, the soil is rich and fertile, but southern and central Mozambique have poor and sandy soil, and parts of the interior are dry.
