Abseiling in South Africa is part of what makes our country so unique, as we have some of the best abseiling spots in the world. A harness connects you to the rope which is secured to the mountain itself. You lower yourself -, metre by metre down the sheer face of the cliff. You are free, your hands, your arms and your body, as you abseil down the side of some of the largest mountains in South Africa. Your feet and hands reach for recesses in the rocks as you lean over to stare at the 360 degree view. This is an extreme sport in every sense of the word. Abseiling is more than an adventure; it is a workout that will test every inch of your body. Your friends and our confident instructors will be with you as you fall backwards in sheer awe of the power of nature and gravity. This is a nerve-wracking experience, but as the adrenaline kicks in, the fun truly begins.

From abseiling off Table Mountain in Cape Town, to Pietermaritzburg, Lesotho, Oribi Gorge in Natal, various places along the Garden Route & Wild Coast to near the Kruger Park, we have located prime South African abseiling locations for you. You will be in the care of expert abseiling guides every step of the way and this incredible sport is open to all, every day of the year (weather permitting). You will only need to bring: a camera to record the magnificent views, sun block to protect you from the harsh sun, sturdy clothing, a windbreaker, a sunhat, strong shoes or boots, sunglasses and a water bottle to prevent dehydration.

Most abseiling expeditions start out with trip up the mountain or cliff from which you will be abseiling. In the case of the famous Table Mountain in Cape Town, you will luckily be able to take a cable-car straight up to the top. In the case of the 204 metre Maletsunyane Waterfall, you may need to take a donkey ride to the top!
